About TimberChain

TimberChain® specialises in FSC and PEFC Chain of Custody certification and EUDR compliance support for timber businesses.

Our work focuses on building practical certification and due diligence systems that operate effectively in real production environments — supporting audit success, operational control, supply chain compliance, and long-term commercial credibility.

Consultant - Paul Wilson

TimberChain was founded on a simple observation: most certification doesn’t work as well as it should.

Across 15 years working in timber certification, forest governance, and sustainability policy — spanning Southeast Asia, the Pacific, and beyond — a pattern becomes clear. Companies approach FSC and PEFC Chain of Custody certification as a compliance exercise: train staff, pass the audit, renew every few years. The certificate is obtained, but the opportunity is missed.

Effective certification delivers more than market access. Properly implemented, it strengthens operational control, improves material traceability, reduces risk, and builds the kind of supply chain credibility that increasingly demanding buyers and regulators require. It also contributes to something more fundamental — ensuring that responsibly managed forests remain a viable resource for future generations, not just a selling point on a product label.

TimberChain was established to deliver certification that achieves both: commercial results and genuine substance.

Paul Wilson brings extensive experience across the full spectrum of timber certification and compliance — including senior roles with PEFC and CertiSource, project and policy work with UNDP and international NGOs, and the design of national-level Chain of Custody and timber legality systems used across multiple jurisdictions. He holds postgraduate qualifications in Development Studies and Business Administration.

That depth of experience informs every system TimberChain designs — practical, defensible, and built to function long after the audit is complete.
